Dental Veneers

What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are custom made facings that are bonded to your teeth to improve the shape, size, colour and texture of your front teeth. They can be hand crafted directly in the dental chair with composite resin or fabricated in the lab using porcelain materials. Veneers are often a great choice for people who have mismatched or different sized teeth, worn or chipped teeth and discoloured teeth that cannot be fully treated with tooth whitening alone. Veneers can also be used to mask a mild cases of malalignment of teeth, however orthodontic treatment is often recommended to avoid excessive removal of tooth structure. Your dentist will work closely with you to understand your individual goals and help to design a smile that you can be proud of.

Do veneers hurt?

Depending on your individual situation, veneers can be completely painless and require no or little removal of your natural tooth structure. Ideal candidates for no-prep or minimal-prep veneers are people who have generally well aligned teeth with gaps or chipped areas. If your tooth requires more tooth removal due to the colour or position of the tooth, local anaesthetic will be used to ensure your visit is pain-free.

How much do veneers cost?

The cost of veneers generally depends on the material as well as the number of veneers planned. Direct composite veneers are the more affordable option and can range between $350-$550 per tooth. Porcelain may range from $1450-$1550 per tooth. During your consultation, your doctor will discuss with you the pros and cons of each option, the longevity and maintenance required to ensure your smile can last as long as possible.
